Boozhoo, Hello,
I wanted to share the good news...Chief Donny Morris, Deputy Chief
Jack McKay, Head Cousellor Cecilia Begg, Counsellors Sam McKay and
Darryl Sainnawup and community member Bruce Saakakeep are now home
with their family's and community on a temporary leave until the date
of their appeal in Toronto this coming May 28, 2008 @ 10:00 am
Osgood Hall, 130 Queen Street, TORONTO, ON. Not going ot say too much
about those facts, they are as they are, as I have my opinions on
whether the corporation called THE PROVINCE OF ONTARIO and its court
system have any jursidiction over this Independant Nation and Its
People, There is Creator's Laws and there are man made rules, one is
sustainable, the other is self serving and doomed to
implode...anyways...That's my ego wanting out...lol...
Bottom line, the message of love and oneness do not change and this
walk is continuing with great stride to Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug
(KI).  We have made it just past Wawa and are awaiting the arrival of
five strong KI Women who, on there own, fund raised to fly out of KI,
join this walk, and fly us all back up to KI when we get to Pickle
Lake.  You know, Bob Lovelace is still in prison, so is Leonard
Peltier, just two we know of...there are many that hold on to this
role of superiors that need our prayers to help them see the jouney
from there head to their heart...love is the drug, not legal tender.
Join all of us who continue to pray, in whatever way, to whomever you
pray, whenever you pray, even if its less than five minutes, and send
love to Mother Earth and ALL of Her Family.  Please pass this meassage
on to at least four people today and ask them to pass this on to four
people and so on, together with our hearts in prayer, even a little 5
minutes prayer, we can make big changes, this is Truth, not my belief,
this is one of the greatest potentials we have as Spirits on this
Human Journey.
For information on the KI events and other relevant issues and the
Pakane walk go to www.kitchenuhmaykoosib.com.  Miigwetch :)
Three Quotes to share today:
1.  Gandhi: "Be the change you want to see."
Eva Olsson: "Please, do not be a bistander anymore, as long as there
is hate between people, hate between nations, there will always be
genocide."
Albert Einstein: "Our task must be to free ourselves by widening our
circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of
nature and its beauty."
Geronimo: "I cannot think that we are useless or God would not have
created us. There is one God looking down on us all. We are all the
children of one God. The sun, the darkness, the winds are all
listening to what we have to say."

May30

Boozhoo Everyone,
What a week!!! First the KI ladies

joined up with us and walked from

White River to Thunder Bay so far.

We are averaging 100kms a day

and have been in Thunder Bay

for the past two days. We were

supposed to have a rest day yesterday

but as it turned out the National Day of
Action festivities were taking place and

were invited to the march (3kms or so)

through Tbay down to the marina. It turns

out that the KI6 were on route as well

and showed up there to speak and we

finally met all of them. All the latest pics

are at this link:http://www.flickr.com/photos/pakane

and of course the latest KI updates are on their website

at www.kitchenuhmaykoosib.com , there's a
video with the Chief of KI on the home page now.
The appellate court decided time served was

sufficient and released them and

Bob Lovelace...great news!!! The judges

have reserved their comments though but

it was shared that they were not happy

with the way the lower courts are

dealing with First Nations issues. We found
out Wednesday afternoon as we were

approaching the court house in Tbay.

It was all so exciting and many people

were waiting for us and walked to the

court house with us. We were so tired

by the end of the day but when we found

out we started running...only half a block
though and then we were tired again,

but happy. Two of the the KI ladies walking

are Darryl Sainnawap's Mother and

Auntie, he was the youth counsellor in

jail, 23 years old. The talks now are of
government ot government relationships and

respecting each other treaty partner to

treaty partner...lets continue to pray that our
human family members in the corporate, legal

and political systems continue to with this

clear moment and act with love, respect,
humility, honesty, truth, courage and wisdom.
We would like to thank all those who sent

their prayers of love and compassion to

Mother Earth and her human family

during this time and only ask that you

continue whenever, however and to

whomever you pray. Chi miigwetch as

well to all those who have and are continuing to
help to communicate this message, keep

on keepin on. ;) We are continuing our

walk to Pickle Lake and then flying into KI
from there. Should be in Pickle Lake by

Wednesday/Thursday of this week.

My Mom will be able to visit with us in

KI for a couple days too from Kasabonica.

Can't wait. We will be flying home to Toronto
after about a week up there and CAN'T WAIT

to see the family and friends again.
Talk to you soon,
Pakane

Here are a couple more quotes I came

across...enjoy:

"Treat the earth well.
It was not given to you by your parents,
it was loaned to you by your children.
We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors,
we borrow it from our Children." Unknown

"A small body of determined spirits fired by an

unquenchable faith in their mission can alter

the course of history." Gandhi

"Have we not come to such an impasse

in the modern world that we must love our

enemies - or else? The chain reaction of evil - hate
begetting hate, wars producing more wars - must

be broken, or else we shall be plunged into

the dark abyss of annihilation." Martin Luther

King Jr.
"Show respect to all people, but grovel to none." Tecumseh

Boozhoo,
Chi Miigwetch to Creator, and EVERYONE...All my Relations
who listened to their hearts and became a part of
this journey with us. We walk with many in spirit and
in person and have come to KI with these
prayers and support for all involved. The Big Trout
People are all very welcoming and grateful for our
efforts as well. Chi Miigwetch again to the KI 6
walkers for walking with us too and getting us here
sooner than expected. Everything worked out
everyday in every way. check out the latest pics
and the video from today on the Pakane page! Miss
the family and will be home soon, we talk every night
and it is difficult to be away for this long but we know
it is worth it in the big picture, love you
Shannon and Eathen. Chi Miigwetch to all of
you who replied or e-mailed with such uplifting
words and messages. If I may be so bold as to ask
for the continued prayers of love and clear understanding
to our human family members who are clouded with
$$$$ on the brain. Our children need to see and learn
from these actions too. The truth cannot be changed...it
has come and this growing consciousness was
accelerated, in my view, by the peaceful and
courageous action of the KI Leaders, not only
the ones incarcerated, but everyone else who
stepped up to continue the leadership that the
People needed to work through this.
Chi Miigwetch to you all for this lesson
through action. Here are a couple more quotes to
enjoy and again,
CHI MIIGWETCH :) (a whole lot of big thank you's...lol)
Pakane

"Hatred does not cease through hatred at any time. Hatred ceases
through love. This is an unalterable law. "
Buddha

"I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can
be no more hurt, only more love. "
Mother Teresa

"And while I stood there I saw more than I can tell and I understood
more than I saw; for I was seeing in a sacred manner the shapes of all
things in the spirit, and the shape of all shapes as they must live
together like one being."
Black Elk

"Education either functions as an instrument which is used to
facilitate integration of the younger generation into the logic of the
present system and bring about conformity or it becomes the practice
of freedom, the means by which men and women deal critically and
creatively with reality and discover how to participate in the
transformation of their world."
Paulo Freire

Boozhoo,

THE WHO:

My name is Pakane (Grasshopper) or Steven Baranyai and I am an Anishinabe man, martin clan of Ojibwe and Hungarian decent from my Mother and Father respectively. I was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie and spent much time growing up in my Mother’s community called Ganaabaajing or Serpent River First Nation, along the North shore of Lake Huron. Mark Anderson is the stepfather of my partner, Shannon Van Every, Cayuga/Tuscarora from Six Nations. It was the Grandfather Father Drum that I was walking with at the time and some brothers from our community that led these KI representatives into Queens Park for this press conference back in June of 2006. This walk had inspired me so much that I gifted Mark this Grandfather Drum and he brought Kiijaadjiwan back to his community. We also attended the musical celebration in Six Nations that summer and continued generating awareness about the situation. It was shortly after this time when the moratorium ruling was put in place, but it did not seem that much awareness had been generated in the mainstream population. This is something our entire human family needs to be aware of. I feel we can now stand strong together and do something about it for our future generations who will inherit what we leave for them. Our children can only keep growing up with what they know from what we teach and what they see. Lets show our children that LOVE is the answer!

THE WHAT: I awoke from a dream shortly after the jail sentence came down and in the twenty minutes of dreaming, six weeks of time were shown to me. I witnessed myself walking up to KI to bring this awareness and a strong message of LOVE to this entire situation; to all our relations. I believe in the power of the collective will of our Human Family. I believe if we use any other means we will all lose, even those without faces; the unborn. I believe we are all made of this energy we call LOVE. I believe that these individuals, investors, government and legal agents making these decisions, causing this adversity, can only do so due to the lack of this LOVE. I was told in my dream by a voice that everyone has already been whispered too, all I need to do is begin planning this walk, talking about it, walking it. All I need t ask for is help in communicating this message. I ask you who are reading this for this help in communication. The voice said this would awaken the inner voice in those around you and you will be provided with everything you need to complete this journey. I say Chi Miigwetch in advance for this assistance, the rest is up to you to look inside and do what your heart is telling you. Make it my honour to walk your prayers to KI and let me carry them in the form of a tobacco tie to send to the Creator at the sacred fire when I arrive. Send your prayers through song, fasting, sweat ceremony, thoughts and send only positive thoughts of love and compassion to ALL involved, especially the perpetuators of these adverse actions; they need to be brought closest to the fire. Our collective thoughts can do anything and have a righteous power beyond our belief. We can clean polluted water together, polluted lands, and begin to help Mother Earth heal so our future generations have a place better than we received it. Lets begin and show our children it is time.

THE WHERE: I have now witnessed this dream coming true as I have began the planning and the talking. I will begin the walking Saturday, May 3rd, 2008 with a sunrise ceremony at the Niagara Regional Native Centre at 382 Airport Road in Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON. We will meet the sun at 6:00am. A detailed estimate of the scheduled walk is included in this package to share. Join me anywhere, anytime and bring your Loving energy with you. A moment of prayer will take place at the waters in Port Dalhousie. I was asked to do this by our Mother Earth Water Walker, Josephine Mandamin, who will be walking around the lower part of Lake Michigan by then. She asked for tobacco to be placed in the waters that will connect us during our walk together and that she will sing and pray for all involved as well. There will also be a quiet moment of prayer and song at Queens Park on Sunday, May 4th, at approximately 6:00pm and another moment of prayer at Platinex Inc. by approximately 1:00pm on Monday, May 5th. The prayer will consist of taking a pinch of soil from KI and placing a tiny pinch of tobacco with it onto Mother Earth in front of these two corporate buildings. Love is the message within the prayer, for it is the absence of love in these individuals that allow for this greed and choices to take place. The walk will then continue on to Thunder Bay where the same moment of prayer and song with the same message will take place at the Provincial Superior Court House, again love is the focus of the prayer. There is no need or desire to speak to or address anyone at these three prayer locations; silence followed by an honour song is all that is needed. Our thoughts are energy in motion outside the body and CAN move mountains, especially with a collective focus. I ask you to do what you already know in your heart to do. You know THE WHEN and THE HOW, now let’s Walk in our Elders Footprints for Mother Earth and our Future Generations together.

Chi Miigwetch,

Pakane
